Originally produced in the English language, this article is part of a collection that aims to compile the debate of the 1960s–1970s on the State in Marxist theory at the height of political-social struggles in the post-World War II period, and even at the collapse of the Capitalist Social State (Welfare State). With a unique historical-scientific value, this is one of the academic rarities that very precisely expose the origins of the debate on the derivation of the State. The text discusses the arguments intensely discussed by the Group of Socialist Economists in England about the State among Marxists and reveals how this discussion opened space for the advancement of the derivationist debate. Despite the fact that this debate remained “open” in that period, its methodological precision today demonstrates the strength of the Marxian method in foreseeing tendencies, being essential for understanding the organic relationship between State and Capital.
